Collaborative Project: Week 4/Class 7

3d Layout:

We start last week to block out the layout and this week we are aiming to finish the camera movements and assemble all the scenes into a single video to be able to start the animation stage ASAP. I was assigned the scenes 1, 2 and 6. Below are the videos.

Also, I continue to do more tests for the camera point of view compositing to get feedback ahead of time and don't worry too much of that in post production. For today I was aiming to finish a test with guidelines on the corners of the phone and the phone fissure/crack effect (for the scene in which the bird breaks the screen and if the phone is needed to preserve that effect along the short film). Below is the video.

Collaboration Project: Week 3/Class 6

3d Layout:

I work on the first version of the 3d Layout of the first sequence of the film. I followed the storyboard panels for composition but I re-time the action beats from the animatic to make the actions more fluid. It's only the first version so I will present it and ask for feedback and see what could be improved.

Also, we need to see if it works or if it needs to change differently from what is on the storyboard

Also, I worked on a compositing test for the phone recording the video, which will happen to be the shot on screen. I test with different camera filters and also I add the digital grain (which works better than the previous one).

Collaboration Project: Week 3/Class 5

Animation Tests:

I continue to do animation tests pushing the cartoony and exaggerated aspect of the character. I'm aware that the character will be very different in proportions and facial expressions but at least this exercise has given me some practice to get use to think in exaggerated motion, which is very useful for much because my animation tends to be more naturalistic and less cartoony (in both the posing and the transitions).

Camera Recording (Compositing) Test:

I also do a test with Nuke by grabbing one establishing shot of the short film Broken: Rock, Paper, Scissors by Bryan Locantore, Garret O'Neal and Gang Maria Yi, and do a quick composition adding noise, animating a blur effect and integrating a red circle (and animating it) to simulate the symbol of a cellphone recording a video.
